R.G
On Sidepodcast.com

Found sidepodcast in April, listening to his first show in May, with Episode 62 - Back to the Flying Business.

Most famed on the sidepodcast community for the names he used to put in brackets, which changed on a regular basis. RG joined the community for the Canadian Grand Prix, in which his favourite team, BMW Sauber, recorded a famous 1-2. Since then, he has changed his name from Gaulty to R.G. Also noted to be one of a few Takuma Sato and Nurburgring fan and the youngest person in the community.

During live commenting for F1 Debrief Episode 81, he revealed his first name was Ryan.

Managed to jinx Felipe Massa during the Brazillian GP by posting 'MASSA WINS THE CHAMPIONSH' 30 seconds before the end of the race. Hamilton passed Glock to finish 5th and therefore win the championship after the message.

Infamously wrote " Sidepodmurder, a new detective show starring Christine and Me. 'Christine, Franck Montagny has been killed.' Is now to be on -1,000,000 on the next Sidepodpanel show and generally regarded as the worst comment to make.

From November 11th 2008 to the eventual demise of the leaderboard, he has featured in the 'Top 5 Most Talkative' on the sidepodcast homepage. Briefly topping the charts on several occasions in 2009. Unsure how.

Wrote a guest post for Sidepodcast acting as a season review blog entry, the post was originally meant to be an e-mail to be called out on the show, however was described as very good and instead can be found on sidepodcast.com, under Couldn't Have Asked For More

Undergone minor name change on the weekend of February 7th. Losing brackets and dots to become simply, RG. And in a new years resolution, created a blog called The F1 Waffler.

Inbetween February 29th and March 8th, his inability to keep his trap shut has resulted in him being forced to sing YMCA on the next live show and donating half the contents of his wallet to sidepodcast, for believing that Mr C could not not comment for 24 hours. He was inevitably wrong.

Reveals he has a man-crush on current Toyota driver Timo Glock, reasons are currently unknown. However has become depressed with images of Timo and his current girlfriend at the paddock.

First comment on Sidepodcast.com:
"Well intresting race, from what it looks like then, Heidfeld will surely be filled to the end of the race, Kubica then gets past him so he is released and get some time. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Nick wins, that would be a great confidence boost, and Kubica comes second."

First appeared on F1 Debrief via e-mail during the week before the Valencia GP, complaining about lack of progress made by BMW on making the 2008 car after the Canadian GP. Also e-mailed complaining about the quality of the German F1 coverage (RTL) and the news that Canada had lost its grand prix amongst other things.

His first and currently only appearance on Sidepodpanel was Episode 2, on the losing Apple Cake team. During the show, he was noted for his quality in his answers compared to the quantity, including the question, 'If you were in charge of the FIA for one day, what would you do?', R.G replied simply, 'Bring back Canada.' Due to school commitments, can only appear on certain dates, restrcting him to limited commenting time.

Also, appeared on the season 2008 megamix, the call itself lasting exactly 20 minutes. He featured alongside the likes of Scott Woodwiss, Alianora La Canta and Dom

Contributed for Sidepodparty's own version of '12 Days of F1 Christmas', with number the number 4, 4 Heidfeld podiums, which was eventually sung by Christine. In the same show, appeared as having a 'Good Week' for missing the ITV Review of the Season due to footballing commitments, and called in as well.

Phoned into F1 Debrief Episode 91, talking about Takuma Sato and whether he is the right man for the Toro Rosso seat instead of Sebastian Bourdais. And also into Episode 93, talking about the recent Croft Circuit problems at the time.

Hosted the First Episode of Season 2 of Sidepodpanel on the 15th March 2009. It was an infamous appearance as with just two questions left, the phone he was using lost battery and Mr C took over from him using RG's original questions. On the following week's panel, he was linked to Super Aguri for not finishing what he started.

Made his first Tremayne on 17th May 2009. Complaining about Max Mosley and the FIA. It also featured the debut of a singing tremayne, as he sung part of Yohanna's Is It True (Iceland's Eurovision entry from the day earlier) after admitting to having a crush on her.

He sent in a voicemail regarding Croft Circuit, similar to his call on Episode 93 : Kers for 5 Year Olds, during the same call, he was credited with the title of that episode with 'Do I Really Sound Like Fisichella?'.

On Pitlane Fanatic Quiz

First took part in the Pitlane Fanatic Quiz in mid-January and since then has been consistantly average, with his highest finish being a joint second place, albeit out of five. However has a 100% unbeaten record against Mr C, only drawing with him on his first attempt. Finds the pre-1998 questions most difficult, with the most recent ones and ones involving BMW Sauber or Sauber amongst his favourites.

On Street Circuits

During the winter months of 2008-2009, with the aid of QuikMaps, RG set about creating street circuits around the world, including places like his home town in Newcastle, Miami, Perth, Edingburgh and London. The full set can be found here. A consistant feature is bridges, which he describes as fun to drive across

The first street design was Newcastle, which he has described as his personal favourite.

After a brief spell in designing a Cardiff circuit in February, RG has not yet released any more designs, but is intresting in doing so in places like New York, Paris and in Italy.

On F1

Is well known to be a BMW Sauber supporter, prefering Nick Heidfeld to Kubica. However, he also likes to follow the Toyota boys, one of the few reasons they managed to make it into his 2009 Fantasy Racers outfit. His favourite circuits mainly include the non-Tilke designed ones, but preferably Nurburgring and the now dropped Montreal.

He does not like the Ferrari team full stop, or Kazuki Nakajima as he still hasn't forgiven him for crashing into the back of Kubica in Australia 2008. Again does not like any of the Tilke circuits, but mostly that of China.

Earliest memory of Formula 1 was the 2001 US GP, which so happend to be Mika Hakkinen's last win and Murray Walker's last race that he commentated in. Began fully watching Formula 1 in the 2006, but has always supported Sauber since the start.

On Fantasy Racers

Finished 2008 in 148th after joining in Canada. He has stuck with the same five drivers since the start, Coulthard, Webber, Kubica, Heidfeld and Vettel. His highest ever points finish was 604 in Italy.

For 2009, he called his team 'Chucking The Rule Book Out'. With a preliminary team of Kubica, Heidfeld, Trulli, Vettel and Glock.

On BATracer

Opted to join in all the malarky at sidepodcast and join the Sidepodcast private league in January 2009. Joined with Joe at his favourite team, BMW Sauber as the number 2 driver. Regarded as the next Takuma Sato after crashing so many times, including Belgium, where he was leading before he crashed 10 laps from the end. However luck changed in the final race in Brazil, where after getting pole posistion, he won the race finishing on 21 points, 11th overall.

Has been involved in other seasons on BATracer, such as the 1986 Season, but he grew bored of the season quickly. He is in charge of the Minardi team, alongside Alianora. Managed to score a point whilst managing not to record a set-up for the race itself.

The next season was the 2009 mod, where he was involved with Dom at Toyota. However could only muster a single podium at the time.

He is currently involved in the 1999 season. As of date, there have been no races, but he is at his beloved Sauber team with no team mate as of yet.

On Other Intrests

Is well known to be a football fan and occasionaly helps out Christine and Me when they ask about football. However he does not like Superleague Formula, despite his favourite team, Tottenham Hotspur, being involved with the series. In other sports, he likes Rugby League, darts and does like to watch other sports such as Ice Hockey. Also plays football for an unsuccessful team, currently since joining sidepodcast, his team has failed to win a single game, and managing few draws.

Also an avid television watcher, being a fan of CSI (all forms), The Simpsons and Soccer Saturday with Jeff Stelling. As well as reading, enjoying the current horror series by Darran Shan and intrested in the recently released Fighting Talk book.

Also listens to many podcasts other than sidepodcast, in being the likes of Fighting Talk, Football Weekly by The Guardian, Filmspotting, 606 with Danny Baker, The Spurs Show and Friday Night Comedy from Radio 4.
