As the site and the community began to grow, it was clear that trying to live comment on threads whilst hitting F5 constantly was an outdated way of doing things. We needed something more interactive, more responsive, and that's where the live commenting solutions have come in. The Live Commenting Live... Thing was first, a way of getting updates on a particular thread without having to refresh the page. As our needs evolved, we came up with the Realtime Doohickey as another alternative. The pair of them solve different problems, are aimed at different needs, but together are a treat. They are constantly evolving and feedback is always welcome.

P.S. Doohickey is female, because she can handle comments across 10 threads simultaneously. LCLT is male, because he cannot.
