The first (and so far only) Filipino active poster on Sidepodcast, Journeyer first saw the site in September 2007 (when they interviewed Keith Collantine of F1Fanatic during
Episode 36). He began posting comments in December 2007.
His first-ever F1 race was a tape-delayed version of the 1996 Spanish Grand Prix, eventually followed by tape-delayed versions of the 1997 Monaco Grand Prix and the 1998 Hungarian Grand Prix. No surprise, then, that Journeyer is a long-time Michael Schumacher and Ferrari fan. He began to watch more often by mid-2000, seeing the 2000 Japanese Grand Prix live on TV. He began to watch full-time at the start of 2001 and has not missed a live race on TV since 2002. The first race he attended in person was the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix (the first-ever F1 night race), quickly followed by the 2009 Malaysian Grand Prix (the first rained-out F1 race since Australia 1991).
One of Journeyer's favorite pursuits is F1 history. Along with
Steven Roy (someone with a deep knowledge of F1 history), they have read and learned much about how Formula 1 got to where it is today. Learning of Fangio, Clark, Stewart, Gilles, and Senna, among others, contributed further to his love of the sport.
From time to time, he may come across as a nemesis of the ever-present
Mr C. A fan of Michael Schumacher (whom Mr C intensely dislikes), and an opponent of refuelling (which Mr C supports), Journeyer has engaged Mr C in many great F1 debates over the years. One curious topic is the matter of Journeyer starting a blog, something that Mr C has been pushing for but Journeyer has decided against.
The reason for this is that Journeyer already writes about F1 - a lot. He writes regular
pre-race guest articles for F1Fanatic. He has also written a guest post for Sidepodcast (
for his 2009 Malaysian Grand Prix experience). He has also participated in many other fun activities of the Sidepodcast community, such as
Sidepodpanel (twice as a panelist,
once as a host), the
Pitlane Fanatic quiz (having already taken 5 wins), and
Fantasy Racers (since 2008). He is also the last publicly-known top commenter on the site, before the board was taken down at the end of April 2009.
With or without a top commenter board, expect Journeyer to be hanging around at Sidepodcast for a very long time.
