F109 Wii Cover

F1 2009 is an upcoming video game based on the motor racing series with the same name and the 2009 Formula One season. It will be released on 30 September 2009 on Wii and PlayStation Portable platforms and is the prequel to the 2010 video game based on the same series. The game was confirmed by Codemasters on May 9, 2008. The game engine is based on the Ego Engine that Codemasters used on both the Colin McRae: Dirt and Race Driver: GRID games.

This is the first time since EA's F1 Challenge '99-'02 that an F1 game has been on multiple platforms as Sony previously held the rights to F1 and only released games on their own platforms; PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 3. The game will feature the circuits that are on the 2009 calendar including the Marina Bay Street Circuit for night racing and the new Yas Marina Circuit. The game will also feature the KERS concept, as well as slick tyres. There are 15 driver aids each switchable on and off for first time and hardcore players.
